It’s been an amazing trip to our Friends of Peru home in Andahuaylas. We have all been amazed at the warmth and servant attitudes of all of the kids and staff. A service team from Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church has spent the last week doing construction in the mornings and spending the afternoons doing soccer and volleyball clinics, art (including creating a mural), and working with Shannon Eaton on doing medical checkups for all of the kids.
On the first evening we were treated to a special welcome from the kids and staff that included snacks and singing.
Much of the morning construction has been building retaining walls to prevent rain water from coming into the buildings. The team had to mix the cement by hand.
Jaime, the home’s director, has been working hard all week long along with the team, but I was able to get a picture of him relaxing after a good day’s work.
Here are a couple of views from the home.
The kids also found a little time to relax in the middle of the day.
After lunch it’s time for sports and art.
In the evenings we are all treated to a meal at Jaime’s house and then it’s back to the hotel to rest up for the next day.
